Jeremy Cordell
The Chicago area in Illinois is filled with outstanding football programs and we were pleased to have an old friend of Chiefpigskin, Jeremy Cordell, present at our Chicago Clinic on January 6. Coach Cordell and his staff at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox have put back to back 10-2 seasons together in 2016 and 2017 playing in the always tough Southwest Suburban Conference. Cordell’s presentation focuses on the LWC run game, the Hybrid Wing-T. This offense features multiple formations, motions, and unbalanced looks. Cordell believes in “a lot of eye candy” but a set of basic plays. In 2017 the high powered running attack rushed for an average of 226 yards per game, 6 yards per carry, 40 TD’s, and 33 points per game. The Knight’s offense features an attack that threatens both vertically and horizontally. Click here to see the video.

Hybrid Wing-T Run Game

Attacking the perimeter!
The base play in the Knight’s offense is the Jet Sweep or Rocket Toss which puts tremendous pressure on the perimeter of the defense. The concept is to put the defensive personnel in conflict with what they would naturally want to do. These plays force the secondary to come up and play run instead of just defending the pass and also forces the D Line to chase instead of just plug. Cordell gives a detailed chart of each players responsibilities and blocking assignments for the Jet and Rocket.
All in all this presentation includes:
- Jet Sweep
- Rocket Toss
- Trap
- Belly
- Power
- Counter
- Check Game
All series include alignments, assignments, diagrams, and plenty of game footage to show the offense in action. These guys really know how to run this offense and I loved this presentation. If I was still coaching and was a head coach I personnally would give this serious consideration to be my offense. Click here to see the video.
