Any youth football coaches out there looking for a simple defense that’s easy to teach and learn? Heck, this defense was run at the high school level for 25 years and was a great defense. This is the simple version that we at Chiefpigskin feel would be an outstanding option for a youth football team. In this video the presenter talks about 9 keys or concepts that makes this D go. Included is Philosophy, Personnel, Gap Identification, Alignment ID, Fronts, Line Stunts, Linebacker Blitzes, Linebacker Adjustments, and Coverages. Option coverage is also included as well as a few good stories from the Old Coach. To get to the presentation just click here. That will take you to the Simple 4-4 Defense. Take a look and see what you think. By the way, we’re working on a Simple 4-4 Defense Part 2 which has some variations.

Roger Federer

What I’m thinking… It was harsh, I thought, but things were certainly not going well for Scott Frost, the former head football coach at Nebraska. So, in this bottom line atmosphere of NCAA D1 football, you just have to win. I felt bad for Frost, good guy, poured his heart into the program, and then he gets canned. But some allegations have come to light and IF true, yes, he had to go and should. But these are just allegations and we must wait and see. Then, a few days later, a man that I’ve always respected loses his job. Herm Edwards is out at Arizona State. Seems like Herm was involved in controversy for the last couple of years. Mostly recruiting stuff. But the bottom line is he didn’t win enough. I don’t like early season firings but that’s the world we live in.

Last week I said I would take Josh Allen over Patrick Mahomes. Then 2 days later Mahomes goes 30-39 passing for 360 yards and 5 TDs. Yeah, he’s good, Allen is good, THEY’RE BOTH GOOD! How do you choose one over the other? I’m not smart enough to say.
No, I’m not a tennis guy, I’m no expert. I pretty much just watch the majors. Roger Federer  just retired after a spectacular career including 20 major titles. He was considered the best ever just a few years ago. But now Rafael Nadal has won 23 majors. Novak Djokovic has won 21 majors. So, who is THE BEST EVER? Well, 14 of Nadal’s championships came at the French Open on clay. Federer has 13 Wimbledons and US Opens. Djokovic has 10. Nadal has 9. They are the 3 best ever in my opinion. If you put them all in their prime, say 28 years old and they played a round robin several times. They would each win 5. Can’t say who is best ever. But Nadal would win most on clay. Federer most on grass and hard court. And no, Serena Williams is not in that group. She is the greatest women’s player of all time. But women play 2 out 3, men play 3 out of 5. Williams has not played against the level of competition as the men. No fault of her own, just the way it is.  DBLITY
